Civil Designer

Location: Canonsburg, PA | Hybrid (3–4 days/week in office)

Compensation: $65,000–$85,000+ annually (based on experience) | Full-time with benefits

The Opportunity

Verdanterra is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Designer to join the engineering team in Canonsburg, PA. This hybrid role (3–4 days/week in the office) offers the chance to contribute to impactful projects that support sustainable infrastructure development, with a strong focus on renewable energy initiatives across the Midwest, Appalachian, and Northeast regions.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil site, water resources, stormwater, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Develop grading, drainage, utility, erosion control, and stormwater management plans and profiles
• Support engineering design tasks including pipeline alignment, pad and road grading, impact exhibits, and takeoffs
• Draft technical details and specifications, ensuring compliance with standards and permitting requirements
• Conduct QA/QC reviews and ensure adherence to company and regulatory design standards
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality designs

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in civil engineering, drafting, or related field
• 3+ years of design experience in civil engineering or related discipline
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater design software (HydroCAD or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utility design, and erosion control
• Experience with erosion and sediment control (E&S) and stormwater design/calculations preferred
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
