Market Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) market sector is the largest in the company, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. The sector includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. HDR provides services such as bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires an understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at various levels. The primary responsibilities are divided into three areas:
The Market Sector Director sets the vision for HDRs strategy to expand and serve clients in this market. They work with regional and area leadership to implement growth initiatives, develop staff, and achieve financial goals. They coordinate business strategies with various leaders and maintain communication to implement growth and operational plans.
HDRs client base spans across the US, Canada, UK, Middle East, and Australia, with ongoing contracts with state departments of transportation and local agencies. The Director supports business development, client management, and growth initiatives, engaging employees and enhancing HDRs brand.
The Director leads market understanding, supports local business strategies, and helps secure contracts. They oversee strategic vision, serve as a client manager, engage in projects, promote HDR services, and participate in industry leadership and partnerships.
They lead staff growth, support recruitment, and oversee technical excellence and resource planning.
The Director assists in project delivery, monitors performance indicators, promotes quality assurance, and facilitates knowledge sharing.
